As the first car manufacturer worldwide, the BMW Group is starting to equip its vehicles with tyres made from sustainably grown natural rubber. The BMW X5 xDrive45e plug-in hybrid (fuel consumption combined: 1.7 - 1.2 l/100km (WLTP), 2.1 - 1.6 l/100 km (NEDC); electricity consumption combined: 27.7 - 24.3 kWh/100 km (WLTP), 25.2 - 23.5 kWh/100 km (NEDC); CO2 emissions combined: 39 - 27 g/km (WLTP), 47 - 37 g/km (NEDC)) with 22-inch tyres are delivered as standard with tyres whose natural rubber content has been grown in compliance with strict environmental and social standards, the tyre is FSC certified. For this purpose, the BMW Group works exclusively with the Pirelli brand. Along with representatives of social institutions and natural rubber processing, we founded the independent Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR) in 2019. The objective is to structure the entire value added chain of natural rubber so that it is demonstrably sustainable.
